PHC has a variety of ancillary care programs/services to compliment the primary care services. Our emphasis is toward health and wellness.
Chiropractic Therapy
PHC offers chiropractic treatment in conjunction with conventional medical treatment. Treatment is primarily used as a pain relief alternative for muscles, joints, bones, and connective tissues, such as cartilage, ligaments and tendons. Chiropractors use hands-on spinal manipulation and other alternative treatments.
The theory is that proper alignment of the body’s musculoskeletal structure, particularly the spine, will enable the body to heal itself without surgery or medication. Manipulation is used to restore mobility to joints restricted by tissue injury caused by a traumatic event, such as falling, or repetitive stress, such as sitting without proper back support.
Dr. Emery has been practicing for # years and has been with PHC for # years.
Podiatry Services
Podiatry is a branch of medicine devoted to the study, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the foot, ankle, and lower leg. PHC provides Podiatry services once a month to treat corns, calluses, ingrown toenails, bunions, heel spurs and arch problems, ankle and foot injuries, deformities and infections and foot complaints associated with diabetes and other peripheral neuropathic diseases.
The foot may be the first area to show signs of serious conditions such as arthritis, diabetes and heart disease. Podiatrists consult with/and refer patients to other PHC providers when they detect symptoms of these and other disorders.
Acupuncture Therapy
Acupuncture is a component of the conventional health care system. The general theory of acupuncture is based on the premise that there are patterns of energy flow through the body that are essential for health.
Acupuncture uses procedures involving stimulation of anatomical locations on or in the skin by a variety of techniques. The most thoroughly studied mechanism of stimulation of acupuncture points employs penetration of the skin by thin, solid, metallic needles, which are manipulated manually or by electrical stimulation.
Massage Therapy
The massage therapy services at PHC offer a means to achieve overall health and well-being with sessions of 30-60 minutes for PHC patients. Massage therapy can play a dynamic role in your healthcare. It can reduce stress and anxiety, relieve tension, relax muscles, reduce pain, improve circulation and immune function, and increase range of motion and flexibility.
An important part of a massage therapy session is letting your therapist know what you expect from your appointment. Discussing your expectations and goals, asking questions, and expressing any concerns will ensure your session is beneficial.
Nutritional Services
Good Nutrition plays an integral part in many of our most prevalent diseases, including diabetes mellitus, heart disease, stroke, obesity, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, certain cancers (e.g., breast and colon), and osteoporosis. PHC works to improve the health of patients with nutrition related diseases, and to prevent these illnesses in future generations through interventions in schools, community programs, and elderĀ based services.
Patient Benefits and Assistance
Navigation for patient insurance and eligibility can be tedious and/or confusing. The Patient Benefits Coordinator is pleased to assist our patients with obtaining health insurance. The Indian Health Service (IHS) requires all uninsured patients to apply for alternative resources. Even if you believe you are over-income guidelines for premium-free insurance, we would request that you meet with Patient Benefits staff who would be able to determine eligibility for programs based on income and household size.
Medical Transportation
Priority is given to patients in need of dialysis or chemotherapy; and is provided once other resources have been determined ineligible. Patients who have Medicaid, will be required to apply for Medicaid transportation. Transportation is available to medical appointments at PHC. 72 hours advance notice is required. It is the patient/client’s responsibility to request transportation.
